This module introduces the learner to nursing as a profession. It is foundational to the development of nursing expertise and the essential preparation for the acquisition of evidence-based practice. It is designed to equip the learner with appropriate knowledge, attitudes and skills to appreciate the uniqueness of the nursing profession. Thus, able to develop and synthesize knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes necessary for implementation of good nursing practice.

It builds on previous knowledge from the following modules: Nursing Science I, Nursing Practicum I, Health Assessment and Nursing Practicum II. Emphasis will be placed on Professional dimensions in nursing, professional nursing organizations and other health related organizations, regulation of nursing and education and practice the relationship between the existing ethical theories, principles, ethical decision framework, legal issues and human rights.
