This course provides a comprehensive study of the structure of the human body and establishes the anatomical foundation necessary for understanding normal human function and clinical practice. The course introduces students to anatomical terminology, planes, movements, and the organisation of the human body from the cellular and tissue levels to organs, systems, and the whole organism.
Emphasis is placed on the regional and systemic anatomy of the musculoskeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive, and endocrine systems. Students will explore the structure and relationships of bones, joints, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and viscera, with particular attention to their functional and clinical significance.
The course adopts an integrated, clinically oriented and student-centred approach to anatomy. Students will be encouraged to relate anatomical structures to their functions and apply anatomical knowledge to clinical situations, including common injuries, neurological deficits, vascular disorders, anatomical variations, and other conditions relevant to healthcare practice. Learning will be supported through lectures, practical sessions, anatomical specimens, medical imaging, three-dimensional resources, case-based learning, self-directed learning activities, and interactive online learning resources available through KUDLE.
By the end of the course, students should be able to identify and describe major anatomical structures, explain their relationships and functions, interpret basic anatomical and radiological images, and apply anatomical knowledge to relevant clinical and professional contexts.
